Sustainability

Sustainable development is development that meets today’s needs without destroying future generations’ ability to meet their needs.

For generations, herring has always been a valuable and important natural resource, and in addition a crucial source of healthy nutrients both for humans and animals. Grøntvedt Pelagic are committed to handling this resource in a safe and respectable manner to ensure that future generations can enjoy the “silver of the sea” with good conscience.

To maintain these interests, we are constantly working to reduce our emissions, as well as increase investments that contributes to increased production of nutritious foods in a sustainable way. Increased use of fish and fishery products will have a positive impact on public health in the future, and according to Sintef Ocean, pelagic fish, like herring and mackerel, is the most climate friendly to produce (Sintef Ocean: Pelagisk fisk har fremdeles minst klimaavtrykk).

Our focus will always be to utilize more of the resources we already have, and to fulfill the UN’s sustainability goals in extracting these resources. Through efficient and environmentally friendly technologies, educated and competent employees and a genuine love for the environment, our investments and future-oriented production will provide sustainable value. Important for us and crucial for our future.
